Xbalanqué is the second of the Hero Twins from the Popol Vuh — the jaguar warrior, the lunar hunter, the one who moves through darkness as naturally as breathing. Together with his twin Hunahpú he descended into Xibalba, the Mayan underworld, defeated the lords of death in a series of deadly trials through cunning and courage, and rose transformed as the moon itself. Where Hunahpú became the sun, Xbalanqué rules the night.
This bandana features original artwork depicting Xbalanqué in full jaguar warrior power: jaguar patches of fur and spots covering his warrior body, a jaguar-pelt headdress crowned with moon symbols, jaguar shield and obsidian blade in hand, crouched in a warrior’s ready stance surrounded by shafts of moonlight cutting through deep jungle darkness — the hunter of the night, undefeated.
