Ix Tab is a powerful and complex figure in Mayan belief — the sacred guardian associated with the cord, with honorable death, and with the protection of warriors and those who made ultimate sacrifices. In Mayan cosmology certain deaths were considered sacred passages to the highest levels of paradise, and Ix Tab was their guardian and guide.

This bandana features original artwork depicting Ix Tab as the warrior guardian she is: a sacred cord draped ceremonially as a cord of covenant, jaguar spots marking her as a figure of power and the wild, a magnificent ceiba-tree headdress of branches and jade, a warrior shield emblazoned with celestial glyphs, deep forest greens and gold surrounding her figure — an ethereal protector at the boundary between worlds.
