Coyolxāuhqui — She of the Golden Bells — is the Aztec moon goddess whose story is one of the most powerful in all of Mesoamerican mythology. Ambition, conflict, and ultimate transformation: defeated in battle by her brother Huitzilopochtli, cast from the sky — and in that fall, she became the moon itself. Permanent. Eternal. Visible to everyone on earth every single night. They tried to end her and instead she became impossible to ignore.
