Hunahpú is one of the Hero Twins from the Popol Vuh — the great sacred text of the Maya and one of the most extraordinary mythological narratives ever written. He and his twin brother Xbalanqué were summoned to the underworld of Xibalba by the lords of death, defeated every challenge thrown at them, outwitted death itself, and rose from the underworld to become the sun and the moon. Hunahpú’s story is the original hero’s journey.

This bandana features original artwork depicting Hunahpú as the solar hunter: black spots marking his warrior skin, a blowgun aimed at the heavens, a macaw-feather headdress blazing with red and solar gold, sun glyphs covering his ceremonial garments — a figure of athletic power and divine destiny in full warrior stride.
